On the occasion Hagen Jørgensen stated:

‘I would like to thank all my collaborators - critics and friends alike. I think we have been successful with many things over the years. I wish good luck to Henrik with the job; for me, it has been a pleasure to go to work everyday during my office. I contributed to bringing the institution into being back in the late 1960s, and consumer issues have always been the apple of my eye’.

As of 1 November 2006, Henrik Øe takes his new office. Henrik Øe, 42, is lawyer, and comes to this position after having worked as Head of Division in the law department in the Ministry of Justice. Among other things, he has also served as legal secretary at the EC Court of First Instance in Luxembourg.

Henrik Øe states:

‘I am looking forward to getting started. New exciting challenges await the Consumer Ombudsman institution in the near future – I would like to emphasise the new rules we expect on class action and the new Marketing Practises Act that took effect this summer. I will endeavour to engage the trade organisations as well as the Danish Consumer Council as much as possible in my consumer protection duties. We all stand to benefit from their involvement.
